Nevada City, CA
Use Permit- 161 Nevada City Highway

PROJECT: The Historical Society has recently acquired an historic sluice box, on loan from the US Forest Service. The Society prefers to display the sluice box artifact outside the existing library building. In order to provide weather protection, they are proposing to erect a 240 square foot pole-shed structure.  The shed would be located at the southeast end of the parking lot, just outside of the pavement area. The structure will be 52 feet from the southern property line, the nearest property line. Setbacks for the Public (P) zoning designation are “as approved through the Use Permit process.” However, the 2014 Use Permit did not address setbacks because the library use was entirely within the existing building, therefore the main building essentially demarks the property’s setback limitations. Because the proposed sluice box weather shelter is closer to property lines than was considered at the 2014 public hearing, it is necessary to process this as an amendment to the Use Permit.
