Medical Cannabis Dispensary Information
Dispensary Current Status: At the March 12, 2017 regular City Council Meeting, Council heard a second reading of an Ordinance regulating medical cannabis dispensaries. The City Council voted 4-0 (Senum absent) to adopt the ordinance. Applications for a Dispensary were available on Thursday, July 5, 2017. The City Council reviewed three candidates, and considerd one for issuance of medical cannabis dispensary permit at their meeting on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at 6:30. At that meeting,
Council awarded authorization for a medical cannabis dispensary to
operate in Nevada City provided they meet required conditions, complete tenant
improvements in compliance, obtain applicable
State licensing, and ultimately obtain a Nevada City permit to operate a
medical cannabis dispensary. Elevation 2477 was authorized by
City Council to operate a medical cannabis dispensary. That applicant satisfied
all their requirements and were issued a permit on August 14, 2018. After a year’s time, the City Manager will report to City Council on any
positive or negative community, and/or law enforcement impacts that have
resulted from the dispensary operation. At that time, the City Council may
decide whether or not to expand the number of medical cannabis dispensary
authorizations.

IMPORTNAT INFORMATION REGARDING THE LIVE SCAN FORM:
The City is currently working on obtaining authorization to receive live scan information from the State DOJ and the FBI. Applications will be due before we have such authorization and so will not be required to include the Live Scan receipt as requested in the application. Please Complete the Background Information Form, below to submit with your application. The City will notify you at the time we have received appropriate authorization and will direct you to provide the Live Scan Receipt at that time.
