Lateral Police Officer/Academy Grad or enrolled/Level I Reserve Police Officer Recruitment – Nevada City, California

City Council recently voted 5-0 to “support and enhance” the police department. This means in part, a serious effort moving forward to better the current pay and benefits to ensure we are competitive when hiring and that retention is balanced.   

Now would be a great time to join! We are authorized to hire four (4) police officers. The first hires would enjoy immediate seniority. Starting pay within the current range depends on qualifications.

In terms of fast-track hiring, the most successful candidates would likely be laterals - California or other states with comparable standards - those who are already proficient on patrol, can easily pass the required background process, and can start soon. However, we are also interested in outstanding people who recently graduated from the police academy, currently attending, or have an enrollment date. We have three level I Reserve Police Officers and are looking to expand that cadre, as well.
