Mission Statement
The Nevada City Parks & Recreation Mission is to provide a system of parks, trails, recreational facilities, programs
and services that will enrich the lives of our citizens.
Parks, open space, trails, a swimming pool, summer programs, and recreational classes are among the programs
and services that Nevada City offers through its Parks & Recreation Department. The Department employs one full-
time employee year round and approximately 35 seasonal staff during the summer months.
Pioneer Park was voted “Best Park” by Union Readers in 2007 and 2015. Those who frequent the park know that the
Park is well deserving of that award. The creek offers an area for children to cool their feet during the hot summer
months, the picnic areas offer a shady space for private parties and the basketball and tennis courts are well used.
