Department Overview
The members of the Nevada City Police Department take great pride in providing quality police services to the entire community of Nevada City. Officers routinely adjust their hours and work schedules to deliver 1st class service while minimizing cost.
Today the Department consists of a Chief of Police, two Sergeants, four Officers, one Code Compliance Officer, one Community Service Officer, one Parking Enforcement Officer, two Reserve Police Officers, one Records Coordinator, and two Chaplains. We partnered with Grass Valley PD for K9 services with the long term goal of reinstating the program. Our Officers and Civilian staff can be seen patrolling the streets of our community in vehicles, on foot or by bicycle.
Besides our patrol function and responding to calls for service, your officers provide a variety of essential functions including; criminal investigations, traffic / parking enforcement, building code enforcement, ABC license compliance, evidence management, special event coordination, quality of life outreach and enforcement, coordinate / track POST required training, recruitment and retention of Reserve Officers, Interns and volunteers, and coordinate Neighborhood Watch activities.
The members of the Department strive to be responsive and sensitive to the needs of the community, and proactive in solving these concerns with a focus on providing a safe environment for all.
