The 2013 Summer Program Guide is ready! Registration for summer programs will begin in May.  NEW programs this summer include a Nature Explorations Camp presented by Sierra Streams Institute and a Water Polo program for adults. We look forward to seeing everyone at the pool again this summer!

There will be a special City Council meeting held on May 16, 2013 at 6:30p in the Council Chambers at City Hall (317 Broad St.).  This meeting will provide the public an opportunity to speak on the proposed expenditure options.

City Hall is once again opened to the public on Friday's. City Hall hours are:

Monday - Friday: 8:00am - noon & 1:00-5:00pm

The 3rd Friday of each month City Hall is closed for employee Furlough.

To help select America's most progressive, adventurous, and livable river towns, Outside magazine turned to a trusted source: the readers and the general public. 20,000 readers in 10 finalist towns engaged in a mostly friendly and always opinionated online competition to determine the cities that are most serious about recreation and environmental stewardship.

Nevada City received 2nd place. 

The California Natural Resources Agency has awarded the Sierra Fund two grant projects that will enhance and expand Tribute Trail.  The first grant award will provide funding to build a bridge across Deer Creek connecting the two sides of the trail.   This project includes thinning vegetation, removal of non-native plants, installation of interpretive signage and trail construction to link the existing trails.  The second grant award will fund acquisition of 47 acres of land down stream along the south side of the creek.  By acquiring this parcel the City will ensur

From hydraulic mining to the Yuba, water has played a major role in Nevada City's history and is an important resource for our community. Nevada City is located close to the headwaters and source of our water supply in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Our water seems abundant and plentiful but water conservation and efficiency are important. Water is a valuable resource! With inevitable changes in supply and demand caused by changing weather patterns and population growth it has never been more important to look at how we use and value water.

Courthouse Update: January 17, 2013

Justice Brad Hill, Chair of the Court Facilities Working Group, presents the group's recommendations to delay courthouse projects in Sacramento, Fresno, Nevada City, and Los Angeles, pending the outcome of the state budget for fiscal year 2013-2014. 

Nevada City has requested that the Judicial Council approve funding for a cost engineering study to reuse and remodel the current buildings.
