2013 Updated Water Rates

2012 Updated Water Rates

The updated fee schedule for water rates is now available.  This fee increase was scheduled in 2010 when the new water rates were initially adopted.  However, the increase for 2012 is less than what was originally planned.  The City is in the process of creating a Water Conservation Program.  When that information is available a link will be provided here.

New Water Rates Adopted
On November 10, 2010, the City Council adopted a new water rate structure.  The new fee schedule will go into effect on January 1, 2011.  The City Council will revisit the fees each year to decide if future increases are necessary.

Why did the City adjust water rates?

Because the City's water rate fees have not been and will not be sufficient to meet operations and maintenance costs. In addition current fees include no amount for much needed capital improvements to the City's aging water system (major replacement and repair of distribution pipes and water plant). Further the current essentially flat rate is inequitable to those using little water, and fails to encourage water conservation.

What was the proposal?

It was proposed that the City look to close the funding gap over the next three years beginning January 1, 2011, with further increases in 2012 and 2013. For the 2012 and 2013 proposed rate increases, Council will conduct further public hearings prior to a final decision.
