Measure "S" was passed by voters in 2006. The purpose was to repair city streets that were in bad condition. The measure passed with an 80% vote. Measure "S" allowed for a 1/2 cent sales tax increase to fund street overlays and improvements. It was estimated that the cost would be approximately $7 million dollars to pave all streets identified as needing repair. As of August 2009, the city has spent $1.5 million on street work. The 1/2 cent sale tax increase has a sunset clause in 2022.
