The California Natural Resources Agency has awarded the Sierra Fund two grant projects that will enhance and expand Tribute Trail. The first grant award will provide funding to build a bridge across Deer Creek connecting the two sides of the trail. This project includes thinning vegetation, removal of non-native plants, installation of interpretive signage and trail construction to link the existing trails. The second grant award will fund acquisition of 47 acres of land down stream along the south side of the creek. By acquiring this parcel the City will ensure that this beautiful riparian environment will remain undeveloped and intact for open space and habitat purposes, while also closing the loop on the Tribute Trail and making it easier to access public land.
The official announcement of these grant awards is expected on November 28, 2012. Updates on these projects will be posted as available.
